hungry gals is a baking and food blog in homage to our Finnish grandmas Ebba and Helli. Both of our childhoods were spent in the kitchen watching our grandmas joyously baking traditional Finnish delicacies covering everything from Cinnamon Buns to Karelian Pastries. From there stems the love of baking in both our lives. Food is best — and must be — enjoyed with good company. Our roots are in Finland, but our taste buds have been influenced by living several years in California and also our current hometown, London. Please come join us to experience delicious recipes, restaurant reviews and cocktails with some added Scandinavianess!

Ice cream, but in my mind I am sophisticatedly nibbling on an amazingly refreshing sorbet whilst sitting on a veranda in Capri.

Dogs. Then cats. Why not – dogs with cats. And throw an alpaca in the mix as well.

When everything else fails make old-fashioned Blueberry Pie.

Being tightly squeezed between two hairy and smelly men in a hot (40C) and overcrowded Central Line tube carriage at 6.30pm for 12 stops.

KRISTA

Krista hungry gals bio

What’s your Starbucks order?
Tall latte. Tall soy latte if I’m trying to be healthy.
Ice cream or sorbet?
I want to love sorbet, but to me it’s ice cream all the way. I find sorbet sometimes too overpowering.
Cats or dogs?
Both. Cats are easier to take care of though.
Your signature dish?
My aunt’s chicken in soy and cream sauce. The easiest thing in the world. Put chicken breasts in an oven-pan. Fill to the brim with soy and cream mixed to the colour of milk coffee and bake until the chicken is cooked. Serve with rice. Almost no effort needed!
What’s your idea of perfect happiness?
Early morning. The world is still quiet and there is a cool breeze floating in from the open windows. Coffee.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Fabulous. Not everything can be fabulous, but I sure try!
Most treasured possession?
My Abba Greatest Hits album with autographs from all four members of Abba back in the 70s. They wrote it out to me but misspelled my name as Crista. I don’t mind. They are Gods.
Lowest depth of misery?
A heatwave.
What is your all-time favourite book?
This question is impossible to answer! I need a list! Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky is the first that comes to mind.
What do you most dislike?
Sweet drinks.
Your go-to boxset?
Friday Night Lights. Texas forever!
